1 Southwark Bridge

We were proud to play a key role in the transformation of the former Financial Times building at 1 Southwark Bridge, working through a subcontractor for Erith. The redevelopment of this landmark property demanded close coordination with multiple trades, as the building was being stripped out in preparation for a new infill extension. Working to tight timeframes and within a busy environment, we delivered specialist surface preparation to support the next phase of construction.

Our work involved blasting the existing concrete frame to remove plaster, coatings, and other surface marks, restoring the original structure to a clean, consistent finish. We also prepared the newer steel-framed extension by removing the cementitious fire protection, blasting the steel back to bare metal, and priming it ready for a new intumescent coating system. These works required a careful balance between speed, quality, and environmental control.

We’re proud of the visible results our process achieved, and the following images show the progress and quality of our work:

  • Untouched soffits – showing the original surface condition prior to any preparation.
  • Comparison soffit image, providing direct visual proof of our effective cementitious removal.
  • Samples of blasted concrete – highlighting the clean, even texture achieved after blasting. This was carried out across the whole building after these samples were taken.
  • Our trusted supply chain partners – GenAir, providing reliable compressed air equipment, and RVT Ltd, delivering expert dust control and air extraction throughout the project.

This project demonstrates our ability to deliver specialist blasting and surface preparation to the highest standard, even under tight time conditions.
