DOFF Cleaning Trial Areas

We recently carried out a series of DOFF cleaning trial areas on external concrete and masonry surfaces at a site in Central London, working in conjunction with Tavec Tensid to assess the most effective method for removing old paint.

The surfaces had areas of deteriorated or unwanted paint that needed careful removal without damaging the underlying concrete and stone. Using the DOFF system, high-temperature steam at low pressure was applied to soften and lift the paint, allowing it to be removed efficiently and safely. This approach preserves the texture and integrity of the original materials, which can be easily damaged by abrasive or high-pressure methods.

The trial areas demonstrated the effectiveness of the process, revealing the original colour and finish of the surfaces beneath. Working alongside specialist chemical support also helped refine techniques for the more stubborn coatings, ensuring a consistent and high-quality result across all trial sections.

Trials like these are a key first step in any large-scale paint removal project. They confirm the best approach, demonstrate achievable results, and ensure the final works protect the structure while restoring a clean, uniform appearance.

For sites where external concrete or stone surfaces are affected by old or unwanted paint, controlled DOFF cleaning trials provide a safe, efficient, and effective solution.
