Norwich City Hall
We were appointed by Principal Contractor DBS Contracts, working on behalf of Norwich County Council, to undertake a detailed refurbishment package at Norwich City Hall. Although relatively small in scale, the project required lots of consistent detailed hand preparation to preserve the structure.
Our remit included the full refurbishment of the railings, balconies, balustrades and window covers situated along the front perimeter wall of the property.

These elements formed an important part of the building’s frontage and public-facing appearance, requiring aesthetic and protective enhancement.
To ensure a durable, long-lasting protective system, we carried out comprehensive surface preparation consisting of abrasive blasting of Sa 2.5 across the majority of items: as well as to St3 via mechanical grinding and hand preparation in areas where blasting was not suitable.
This ensured all surfaces were cleaned to the required standard and fully ready for coating application.
All coatings were hand-applied throughout, enabling precise coverage and careful attention to detail around intricate metalwork. The chosen system provided long-term corrosion protection while delivering an attractive, uniform finish appropriate for a highly visible city-centre location.

The refurbished metalwork significantly improved the appearance and protective condition of the building’s frontage. Working alongside DBS Contracts, we delivered the project safely, efficiently, and in line with Norwich County Council’s specifications.
