Before & After Façade Cleaning
Some time ago, we completed a façade cleaning project on Southampton Row, restoring a prominent Central London building that had been affected by years of urban pollution and weathering.

Prior to works, the façade showed significant build-up from traffic emissions, airborne contaminants, and general atmospheric grime. The original surface had become dull and uneven in appearance, with darker staining concentrated around ledges, architectural features, and sheltered areas. In busy city environments, pollutants combine with moisture and gradually bond to surfaces, forming stubborn deposits that standard cleaning methods cannot effectively remove.

During the works, controlled façade cleaning techniques were used across the elevations, with careful attention given to intricate details, joints, and surrounding areas to achieve a consistent finish. Access planning and sequencing allowed the project to progress efficiently while keeping disruption to a minimum. As the cleaning advanced, layers of grime lifted away to reveal the building’s original colour and texture, dramatically improving the overall appearance.

After completion, the façade presented a brighter, cleaner, and more uniform finish across all elevations. Projects like this show how professional façade cleaning not only enhances the look of a building but also helps protect external materials and extend their service life in high-traffic urban environments.
If your building exterior is affected by pollution staining, surface dulling, or ingrained dirt, a professional inspection can help identify the right cleaning approach and restore the façade safely and effectively.
