Type C vs Type A Hangars
Type C aircraft hangars are large-span structures designed to accommodate bigger aircraft and more modern operational requirements. They typically feature larger internal spaces, heavier structural steelwork, and increased height compared to earlier hangar designs.

In contrast, Type A hangars are often more recognisable by their brick side walls and distinctive roof trusses, reflecting an older style of construction. See images shown above for reference. While the structures differ, both types require careful maintenance and refurbishment to keep them performing as intended.
We carry out refurbishment works across both Type A and Type C hangars, delivering full packages tailored to these environments. This includes removal of existing coatings such as lead-based paint, preparation of structural steel, and application of new protective paint systems.
Alongside steelwork coatings, we also undertake floor coatings where required, ensuring the entire space is brought up to a durable, long-lasting standard suitable for aviation use. Read more about our work at Type A hangars here.
